Licensed Mechanical Engineer and accredited ASEAN Engineer. Since 2006 I have taken rotating equipment and complex mechanical packages from FEED through procurement to commissioning, across oil & gas, petrochemical, mining and energy projects in the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, Europe and North America.
Twenty years, nine roles, five countries — and how the specialisation happened.
What it's for, and what you can actually take from it.
Most rotating equipment knowledge lives in spreadsheets on one engineer's laptop. It gets lost when they change jobs. This site publishes some of mine as working tools — free, no sign-up, running entirely in your browser.
When a supplier quotes a TDH and BHP, you need an independent calculation to judge it against. That's what the tools do — compute the requirement, then compare.
Every tool shows its formulas and assumptions on screen. The point isn't to hand you an answer — it's to show the derivation so you can defend it in a review.
No accounts, no uploads, no analytics on the tools. Your process data stays on your machine — which matters when the inputs are client-confidential.
A caution worth stating plainly: these tools are engineering aids, not a substitute for discipline judgement or a stamped calculation. Verify every input against your project datasheets and P&IDs, and confirm the reference points match your case before using any output in a design decision.
What I do, and the part of a project I own.
Twenty years of comprehensive EPC and FEED experience. My career covers the entire project lifecycle — Front-End Engineering Design and FEED verification, detailed engineering, procurement support, package management, construction, and pre-commissioning and commissioning site support. Onshore and offshore.
I specialise as a Senior Rotary / Mechanical Package Engineer, holding sole discipline responsibility for multi-million dollar rotating equipment packages delivered for global majors including Saudi Aramco and Santos Ltd, alongside Shell, Marathon Petroleum, Dow Chemical and ADNOC's Borouge.
My work centres on the package procurement cycle: generating technical specifications and mechanical datasheets, raising Material Requisitions, leading Technical Bid Evaluations, and executing thorough Vendor Document Reviews. On site I have supported pre-commissioning and commissioning, witnessed Factory Acceptance Testing, and participated in Joint Engineering Inspection & Testing prior to client turnover.
I work to API 610, 613, 614, 616, 617, 619, 670, 671 and 682, alongside ASME, TEMA and the relevant NFPA codes — and I manage the multi-discipline interfaces where mechanical packages meet process, electrical, instrumentation and civil scope. I currently work in Qatar as a Senior Mechanical Engineer with project management responsibility on high-value construction projects.
Where the working week actually goes, and the equipment and codes behind it.
Where the working week goes — and how each area is measured.
These are the measures the work is held to, stated as method rather than as project figures. Actual performance data belongs to the projects and clients concerned and is not published here.
Working calculators built from the engineering practice, not brochures about it. Each runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored. Organised by equipment class; the library is being extended.
Total differential head at impeller centerline and brake horsepower, with a vendor sufficiency check against the calculated system requirement.
Open tool →Corrects witnessed shop-test points to rated speed by the affinity laws and checks head, power and efficiency against the API 610 11th Edition Table 16 tolerances.
Open tool →Builds the maximum discharge pressure from head and relative density, applies the API 610 11th Edition Sec. 6.3.5 requirement and its pressure-rating floor, then checks the vendor's MAWP and the offered materials against the Annex H class — one pump or a whole register.
Open tool →Single-stage centrifugal and reciprocating estimation — polytropic head, discharge temperature, shaft power, impeller sizing, volumetric efficiency and cylinder bore, with SI and English units side by side.
Open tool →Converts Free Air Delivery quoted at ISO 1217 or normal reference conditions to the actual inlet volume required at site — altitude, ambient temperature, humidity and intake loss — and checks the offered package against the duty.
Open tool →Registrations, accreditations and qualifications — with current status stated plainly.
